Yes, if a wound is left untreated or there is an area of the coat covered with bodily discharge.
Maggots are the larvae of blow-flies, and once the eggs have been laid it takes 24-48hrs for them to hatch. They then feed on the animal flesh before pupating and emerging as flies. This of course is very unpleasant for the cat and creats secondary sores and infection.
Normally healthy cats are not infected with maggots, but check you cat regularly and if there are any problems, see a vet immediately.
