A comedy DVD (Monkey Dust; Little Britain), a boxed DVD set of Kill Bill; a Moby music DVD; a new suit; a nice coat; Roddy Doyle's new book ('Oh Play That Thing'); CDs (Dead Can Dance, St Ettienne, Bent, Groove Armada, 60s collections).
I've got a similar problem, only it's 2 sons and no other half...it's ok though, we parted company years ago!! Will be keeping an eye on the answers and nicking all the ideas!!! Might save me a few headaches. Thanks for the question Fakeplastic!!

Hi Frenchy, Son is 21 and a musician studying music tech at Univ. He has his own tastes in music and most of the gear he now needs, so I want to stear clear of the music thing. He also skirmishes and does up old cars! His clothing consists of army surplus and combat type stuff. Husband likes cars and reading and the countryside. Husband is not no difficult to find things for as son, but I keep buying him books and shirts. I'd love to get them both something really unusual. Ipod for son wouldn't be a bad idea, Moog, but a bit conventional. Are they expensive?

GAB Bernardo. I made a bet with myself and won that you would post just that answer!!
You could always ask them to create a wish list each on a site such as http://www.amazon.co.uk That way you get a good idea of what they want & they can keep adding to their list as they think of things they would like without them knowing what you're getting them. You don't have to buy anything directly from the list (you can often find the same items cheaper elsewhere) & it might even give you additional inspiration. p.s. If they haven't got it already you can't go wrong with the Star Wars DVD box set. (And if they haven't got it already - why not?! :-)
Last year I bought my husband a wetsuit and he was able to tell his mates I'd bought him 'rubberware'.
Can't go wrong with gadgets.

Thanks for your ideas. I have been trying to give you all ratings, but this facility isn't working for me at the moment!
