Stoke on Trent
Has anyone got any recommendations (positive or negative) for a hotel in or near to Stoke? Money is not a primary concern (expenses!), but a nice room and decent service are important. I have googled and expedia'd and am underwhelmed.

If you check out the reviews on Tripadvisor then all hotels in Stoke seem to be classed as the pits of the earth but the Moat House is probably the best of the bunch!
The Quality hotel in Hanley is also nice but has been described as the worst hotel ever but personally, i think it is perfectly decent. It is an old hotel though (well over 100 years old) and the fittings and furnishing reflect this whereas the Moat House is modern. Depends what you like!
The Quality is near to the town centre and opposite a kebab house and a 'Gentlemans' club so you get noise late at night from p*ssed up locals if you have a room on the wrong side of the hotel.
The Moat House is on Fesitrval Park which is the meeting place for local boy racers at night, so again, depending where your room is situated (front of the hotel) you may hear them tearing up and down.
