Please can anybody tell me why it is that all of my storage devices for music ie phone and mp3 player are saying that they're full when they're only half full? A fortnight ago I purchased a 2 gb mp3 player off ebay, which says that it's only 44% full, bit nothing else will go on it. How can I get around this? There' s clearly loads of memory left (my phone has a third left) but I can't use it. This question might have been asked before but I can't find it. Somebody must know!!! This makes me so mad!!!

Hi,

Theres a scam going round on ebay where you think you have bought a 2gb memory card, and when you format it and its only a 1gb card or even lower.

Its possible you may have bought such a memory card. Or another posssiblity is that the mp3 files are in the wrong format, and are bigger then they should be.

You may well be right, Phil. There's something that I haven't done actually, and that's totally format the player and start again. I just assumed that these things come ready to use. Hmm, I'll let you know tomorrow. Thanks, Kathxx
You shouldnt need to format it. They usually come ready to use. To be honest I wouldnt buy anything like that on ebay. I bought a 2gb memory for 30 from phones 4u.

Well I've formatted it anyway, and so far, so good. There were things on the mp3 player that were protected and could not be erased, I couldn't view them either so it was really irritating. I don't think I'll bother with stuff like this from ebay again, it didn't cost very much, but it's just the sheer inconvenience of it all. xx
