Plastic Bag Recycling at Tescos

How does the recycling of plastic bags box at Tescos work? They have a collecting container outside their stores near the front door full up of plastic bags - do they collect plastic bags and process them to recycle them.... or are we supposed to take those bags out of there to use them for our next shop? I'm not sure how it works? (usually I reuse them or collect them and reuse them for bin liners at home or something but feel guilty putting them in the landfil)

Some customers help themselves to them to reuse for shopping or bin bags but generally they are added to the other plastic rubbish of the store and sent for recycling.
