Most of the small shops now are owned by Asians, e.g corner shop, Sub Post Office, off-licence etc. Don't get me wrong, I've no problem with that but why, whenever I go into one of these shops, is the bloke(s) behind the counter always on the mobile to someone? They serve you without looking at you whilst talking away in Asian speak, taking your money, then giving you the change. The mobile phone companies must be making a fortune, or has someone found a way to use them without paying?
It may seem rude but they are probably behind the counter from 7am to 10pm and need to organise their lives whenever they can.
It is unlikely that many native Englishmen would put in such hours.
I too, have noticed this recently.
Think what irishmary said was true. They do work all the hours of the day.
Having said that, they as a rule are a very close community, all know each other in the towns and villages etc, more so than we are.
I have also noticed it with the younger groups too in Dentists etc.
