Stabbing back pain...?
Hi all,
I entered my second trimester last week and thank goodness waved goodbye to morning sickness but have now started getting a strange pain in the bottom of my back. I've had some muscular back pain but this is located in one spot - pretty much on my coccyx and is a constant pain (when it's there) which sometimes becomes like a stabbing pain if i move with it. it comes and goes but i don't understand what it is. can anyone help?

I was told it was due to an old back injury when I was a teen, but I understand that some back pain is quite normal during the second trimester, the uterus is pushing up against something. Funny, as the baby got larger the pain subsided. You would have thought it would be the opposite. Maybe the baby was in a better position. I had forgotten about the old injury until I got pregnant. Sometymes the pain was so intense I had to hold onto the counter. Thank god I don,t have it today. I would still see your GP, save the worry.
Hi Lorrymac, you're not far behind me with your pregnancy. I too have been experiencing lower back pain but nothing like what you seem to be suffering. It is probably just being caused by your body changing to allow for your growing baby but if you're worried, talk to your midwife. She may even be able to recommend gentle excercises or something to help ease it.
