I find that the roadworks are the worst, they will cone off a 2 mile stretch for one tiny little area, then there is the coned off area's where no roadworks can be seen!

then there is the speed humps, pimple islands, speed cameras and bad drivers to contend with!
A couple of years ago i had to sell my car as i couldnt afford to have one. I now have a bike with a seat for my boy and we love it. We go everywhere on it and take it on the train too. No more traffic jams, parking tickets, and worry about things going wrong with the car and not having any money to fix it.
My mum went on holiday last week and we had her car while she was away, i thought it was great at first but i am now glad she's taken it back, i have definately been more stressed out this week having it!
One reason that there are so many cars is that there are a lot with just 1 person in. Maybe we should start thinking about sharing them more. People going to work could pick up others.
I actually did share a car for a while a few years ago. Me and my auntie who lived nearby both couldnt afford our own cars, so we split the cost of it all and each used it when we needed it. It worked really well, saved us money and was 1 less car on the road.
I don't know where you live fruitsalad but I live in Hampshire which seems to be one giant car park most of the time. I actually live in a relatively quiet semi rural area but the lack of public transport and the distance I live from work means I have to use my car, but it is very frustrating.
