Absolutely! First, place several tablespoons of bicarb of soda down the disposal. Allow, add a bit of hot water and let it sit. Bicarb is a natural deoderant and also works being left in your fridge to catch odours.
If this fails to work, the next step is what I call 'flossing.'
Buy at boots a small packet of Borax. Drop the borax in the disposal, but rather than using hot water, this time empty several trays of ice cubes into the unit. I suspect what you're encountering is having food items becoming caked beneath the rotor blades...and possibly caking at the lip directly beneath the sink. This should clear it out beautifully. Once you've done that, I've always found a few lemons help sanitise and freshen the unit beautifully...failing that, use some lemon flash..
