Sex of baby at 12 week scan?

Hi, my friend is 14 weeks pregnant (due 3 days after me) and had her first scan last week. Not only did she find out she was having non-identical twins but also she was told that one of them is a boy (they couldn't see on the other one). Has anyone else found out the sex of their baby that early on? I didn't think they could see their ibts that early on? I have no reason to doubt the girl, which is why I am asking! Thanks

I have never been told the sex of my baby at 12 weeks. I didn't even bother asking for baby number 3 as I had already been told that there was much more chance of error at that stage.

I wouldn't count my chickens until the 20 week + scan ~ although I have also been told it is far easier to spot a boy than a girl..for obvious reasons!

When I went for my 12 week scan with this one, I was asked if I wanted to know the sex. We was caught off guard as we was expecting to know. We said yes, but it turns out that they couldnt tell anyway! Only 3 weeks til my next scan and cant decide if I really want to know or not! lol

i think it depends - with my second child, I had a dating scan at around 10 weeks and whilst they had a policy of not telling you the gender, on the scan picture, you can clearly see a highlighted area hanging from beneath the baby's legs - I had a boy!

ive seen some 3d scan pics of a baby at 12 weeks gestation and considering it was a girl it had a bit protruding from the front too lol

They are only 80% accurate at that stage so she may want to get them to confirm at a later date.

The sonographer at my nuchal scan asked if we wanted to know, i asked if it was possible at that stage and she said 'its not accurate but i can give it a good go at guessing'

lol i could guess and still have a chance of 50% accuracy lol

ok dont listen to that crap the babys little parts arent completely formed until 17-20 weeks but congrads on the twins
