this was nudged into my head after 4gs talking about how he had caused a lot of pain in the boxing ring and on the battlefield.
now i wonder are we producing a lot of mentally unstable physically agressive men in the army?
if not mentally unstable we certainly are producing a lot of young men very aggressive and sending them off to fight wherever.
but are they a ticking timebomb?
are these guys when they return to civvy street able to return to a 9to5 job?
after possibly killing folk or seeing friends killed?
i wonder over recent years i recall reading about the ex solsdier who shot his whole family.
pschizophrenia i think caused by alleged gulf war syndrome.
and there have been others.
i recall the guy beaten to death by 2 paras , serving i believe , outside a funeral in london.
this isnt a new phenomenon but is it dangerous training folk to kill .
then expecting them to sit at a desk or serve in a shop?

i worry that their agression could manifest itself and people could be hurt.

that aside im wondering if 4gs was indeed joking ?
or if he inflicted the pain and even if he enjoyed it?
i only ask as he posted it .
and i did find it rather strange and disturbing to read

The very fact that you cannot appreciate that the men and women of the armed forces are prepared to die so that you can sit at your little computer and spout poison (freedom of speech, something which is illegal in places such as Iraq, Iran, China, North Korea)
You shout and poke fun at these people and do not see just how ironic it is that you are only allowed to do that because someone fought for your right to do so.
red: yeah, both my grandfathers shot at some japanese people. One of them hit someone, I think. I have their medals, to this day. I spit on them daily.
You are amazing. Really.
believe me no matter what people have put I am not this loon. For one I cant write that much without a spelling mistake or making myself fall asleep :-)
There is one eminent poster noticeably missing from this thread.

I hope it is still underway, still spitting fire, when he gets home from the Lodge.
Unfortunately you cannot learn or take degrees in common sense...

How can anyone NOT be pro-army?

Oh, and being in a similar situation to Sasha..I agree with her :o)
also my grandmother was part of the war effort. Gave syphilis to a nazi. Go grannie!
And since we're quoting Orwell, is your name bitterly ironic, or are you genuinely everyone's worst nightmare?
That's because he could only dream of being a soldier whiffey, he never served a day in his miserable life
I still look forward to his contribution, john ;o)
pippa, i reckon those who failed to get into armed forces due to psycological problems would probably be a bit anti-army lol

this isnt you 4get, where did anyone suggest otherwise.

I hope that you are lying about your grandfathers meredith. Sadly they are the reason that you exist but i wouldnt hold an armed forces career against them.

meredith, it looks like you are doing this deliberately to chivvy things up - and very adeptly I might say - but your position is untenable. If USA, UK, etc, did not maintain and use armed forces you would likely not be sitting comfortably rousing bile against them.
I've just re-read that last comment from you meredith and I believe I've worked out what's wrong with you.
Syphilis sends you mad.
on post above redcrx
That's it, I've got better things to do than argue with trolls like meredith et al
Meredith, I didn't want our country to enter into this war, but we did. Young people are giving their lives for our freedom, just as they have in wars past, and they deserve, at the very least, our respect. Shame on you. Perhaps you'd like to tell us just what you've done with your life that makes you so proud.
ROFLMAO at cherries
cheries, love the reference to Orwell. Very astute - and clearly amazingly appropriate in this case. :o)
Me and my girls are off now, meredith.
Enjoy Bedlam, I hear the cells have just been refurbished an attractive Army - camouflage green!!
Come on girls, let's leave her to her rantings xxxxxxxx
lol@cheries :o)

thanks whiffey, you taught me everything I know ;-)
