I think its a bad move even though they allowed for it in their 'terms and conditions'.

I have a strange feeling that there will be a book coming out soon, perhaps in time for Christmas? I wouldnt put it past them personally.

Does everyone think that �1 million pounds was going to go on sniffer dogs and a forensic scientist? If that's the case, it's crazy. If you're going to mount a campaign such as this it takes time (off work), PR which costs a hell of a lot, travel, food, and hundreds of other expenses.Would you rather that everyone had not paid their money and the McCanns had gone back to work after a couple of weeks and not devoted any time to the search?
Or hang on, would you have damned them for not caring enough, and callously getting on with their lives? So far I've seen them damned for the following things.

1. Not crying enough in front of people.
2. Shopping
3. Meeting the Pope to get spiritual guidance.
4. Travelling to other countries

Some people resent them for leaving their children unattended, and I can understand that, but they take greater pleasure in this delight than they care about the suffering of the family, including Madeleine herself. Others are just ghoulishly hoping for a bloody end where the McCanns end up in front of a jury.

Next DO sell children's clothes too & I'm sure the twins are growing as quickly as other children do & need bigger sizes every now & then......

I feel so desperately sorry for them and I can't imagine what they are going through. I have no problem in them using the fund money to pay their mortgage or whatever else they need it for. I just wish the nightmare would end for them.

I agree with Ethel. I do not think the fund should have been used to pay their mortgage. I do not see any justification whatsoever for this.

Kate McCann obviously is very clothes conscious and has some expensive clothes and lots of them. Nothing wrong with this at all. However, should be be buying expensive clothes for herself or her children whilst knowing that the fund has contributed to her mortgage. It seems morally wrong to me. Something wrong with her priorities I think.

The fund is a disgracefull sham, should never have been set up.

Any other parent would have had to continue working, not being fortunate enough to have a fund. Of course, they are not fortunate to have lost a child.

uh oh... I take it going and playing tennis is bad thing. I put my toddler in a day nursery whilst I go to the gym. Shall I go and tie myself to a stake right now.

If the fund was being used to pay the mortgage off then I would think that was iffy but to make payments whilst they are searching for their missing child then, no I can see why that is needed. I read Gerr was returning to work soon anyway.


If they couldnt have funded their mortgage without this help where is the justification in making a family homeless. Why not be able to keep the twins in the family home.
