A challenging Charity Christmas 50 Prize Quiz, with closing date in January. Send 1 (concealed) or cheque "HGS" plus stamped addressed envelope to Christmas Charity Quiz c/o J Letts, Harrogate Grammar School, Arthurs Avenue, Harrogate, N Yorks HG2 0DZ. This is a charity Quiz and like the CAB quiz, it is respectfully requested that questions are not posted on any web site. This is a condition of postal applications. Enjoy the Quiz!
I am genuinely interested how you intend to monitor if any questions are posted on any web site. Do you mean AB in particular, any other Q&A web site or any web site whatsoever? And if someone does post a question, how will you know which entrant it is, or will that question be deleted from the quiz and not count towards the score?
I think that you are asking the impossible and to try to make it a condition of postal applications is unfeasible.
However, good luck and I hope you raise all the money you hope for with your quiz.
Thank you all for your interest. This year's designated HGS charity is "Lights for Learning" and further information can be found at www.lights for learning.org. The reg. charity number is 1103647. Every year as part of the HGS charity, there is a charity quiz as detailed above. I normally aim to raise 400 by selling quizzes. In an attempt to increase this I thought I would open it up to ABers as I thought they would be interested in the challenge. The theme is 100 challenging general knowledge questions compiled from a variety of sources. I have requested that the questions are not posted as I do not just want the answers available on the web site. I accept that it is impossible to police but rely on people accepting this in the spirit intended. This seemed to have worked to a large extent in the past with the CAB quiz with people not answering any posted questions. I feel that it is a good quiz and I want people to enjoy it within these constraints. If my attempt fails, then I shall have learnt my lesson and will keep the quiz in-house next year.
Thank You
Thank you for your further clarification, but I am a little bewildered by your requirements. You have used the Answer Bank Website facility to advertise the Quiz, and then those who buy the Quiz are requested not to use the Answer Bank site for the reasons that Answer Bank is intended.
Please don't be bewildered. I am merely advertising the quiz for those interested in participating. I assume from your comments that you will not be participating.
Thanks for your answer and I will be sending for one of the quizzes. However, I do think that you are plaiting wind in hoping that questions will not be asked/answered. I think you should resign yourself to this and accept that in advertising on AB you must go with the general mode of use and be grateful for any extra money you raise for the charity.
Assuming that you are hoping to make as much money as possible for your charity, it strikes me as rather odd that you are putting the majority of people off buying it with that unrealistic request.
Nasty final sentence, Behemoth, in your posting above, to which I reply that it will be for me to know, and you to find out !
Neverthless, I trust that you will achieve substantial sales, and that, to teach you a lesson, as many people as possible post questions and answers to your Quiz, on this website.
