My husband & me have been invited to an 80's fancy dress party at the end of September. Apart from dressing as 'punks', do you have any other sensible suggestions please?

Polo neck jumper and leg warmers like Haircut 100? Long fringed wig cut short on one side a la Phil Oakey?

Thank you Philtaz, seeing as we're both in our 50's, this should be a scream!
Have fun smudge, we want to see pictures!

Oh no! You'll all have a damned good laugh I can tell you!
The clothes from Fame could be fun! All those leotards and headbands (I'm not that brave myself of course). Or how about Spandau Ballet style?
Question Author
Thanks secretspirit, I shall look into that too.
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Regan...?
Early 80s student - long quiff, long mac. Punks were the 70s anyway!
New Romantics (Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran etc), Adam and the Ants ?
red tie, red braces, filofax and a massive mobile phone - instant yuppie. For yourself - how about dressing like one of those women from the Robert Palmer music video (slicked hair, white face, red lips, minidress and guitar) - pretty iconic 80's
Miami Vice. Eighties icons! I'd steer clear of punks though, they were more seventies.

Whoops, I realised after I'd posted the question, that the Punk era was mid to late 70's! We'll look at all your ideas & will let you know which ones we chose. Thank you all.
80s were not just about punk....I like to think of the 80s yuppies!! You could wear the sweater tied arround your neck and I like the Miami Vice idea for your hubby

After all the replies, we were away on holiday & missed the party - but thanks anyway!
