Poorly Puss.
7 Answers
I know its a bit late, but I have been pondering on this for a while. My very old cat Puss is acting very strange, he constantly wants food and water, he must eat at least 6 to 8 times a day, and drinks water constantly. He hasn't got worms and he is very lively. I know the vet is the next port of call, but I am a bit skint at the moment and dont know what to do for the best. Puss is 18 yrs old has anyone got any thoughts. xx

You could take Puss to the vet for tests to eliminate the possibility of problems with liver and kidneys and thyroid.
I always moan about paying for cat insurance but it is great to have it.
Best wishes to you and old Puss.

he's 18 years old?!!! how'd that happen??? in human years or cat years?:P anyway, puss is fine. i know that dogs and cats are very different but i have 2 dogs who happen to be 77yrs. old (in human years) :P ..and they're always asking for food and water too. they also get tired when they go up the stairs and play a lot. good luck with puss :)
It really would be a good idea to take Puss to the vet for a check-up just to be sure he's OK. Cats don't normally drink much water, and certainly not constantly. It coulds be a symptom of impending kidney trouble (I hope not though, poor Puss).
One of my cats, Princess, is 17 now, and she seems to eat constantly but I haven't noticed her drinking any more than normal.

Hi Pussnboots - how is Puss? I hope he's well.
Since I posted here, I lost my poor Princess, she was put to sleep on 5th November. She had an obstructed airway and organ failure.
I rushed her to the vets, but it was too late, they couldn't do anything for her, so it just goes to show how important it is to get them to the vets quickly. Cats don't always show signs of illness until it's too late.
I really hope that Puss is OK? Please let us know?
