where can I get a car stereo that is not necesarily cd but does do radio and play mp3 from usb sticks and HDDs and possible memory cards

Just get a FM Transmitter instead, then all you need the car stereo to do is have radio. Like this one:

You just plug your MP3 player or CD player into it and transmit and your car radio picks it up, the link above is a battery powered one but you can get 12V car jack ones.

there are at least 3 stereo's from argos what has evrything you need! as for them transmitters well all you get is noise,waist of money
