Something dressy but warm

I went out last night in jeans, heels and a vest top and absolutely FROZE going from bar to bar! But I can't imagine going out in a big fluffy jumper and looking very dressy.
Any ideas on something warm but suitable for a night out? Thanks!

i usually take a smart coat with me, then if we go to a club i'll put in the 'cloakroom' or sometimes just leave it on the side - though not always a great idea!
or maybe even just get a wrap type top? if you dont want to take a coat with you.

I always wear a warm coat and take it off when I get there, or else bring a thinnish but warm (ie wool) cardigan with me and slip on on under my coat, then take both off together when i get there!

I always wear a pashmina (from tierack 19pounds) I have a cream one and a black one, they are nice and warm and you can fold it up and fit it in your handbag!
