Voltage blew my system
5 Answers
I've built many machines over the years for clients, and have never had this problem. I recently bought a new case for my personal computer. I installed everything and when I hit the power button, the fan would run and nothing else happened. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found something I've never seen before -- the case was set to 230 instead of 110. So, I corrected it and , obviously, it didn't work after that. How do I determine what components got blown by having too much voltage and which ones I can still use? I'll probably end up just building a new one, but I wonder if some of the components can still be used. Thanks for any help

If I bought memory from the US it still works here in the UK despite the voltage difference. If all the components were expecting 230 volts but only got 110 then surely that would not blow anything?
