I have been on a horse once about 10yrs ago but fancy going again just on a trek, would i be able to just get on and go as such with a group of people and if so how much does it cost. TIA
As horselady says the cost depends on where you are based and the stables tariff.
I live in Sussex and used to pay around 30 for a 45 minute hack! this included insurance and a small amount of instruction.
They also wouldn't let you out on a hack until they had assessed your ability in the riding school first, therefore making sure you were in a suitable group. Have a look in your local paper or directory and ring round a few stables/schools..then compare prices and what you get for your money.
Do you mean just a hack for an hour or so, or a trek which could be half a day, a whole day or a week or so at a time.
I would suggest you have a couple of lessons first to get the hang of it, and also to give your body a chance to acclimatise.
Good riding schools/trekking centres won't allow total novices out on their own although some will take 'leading rein' rides.
You will ache though, so be warned if planning to go on a long trek.
