If you hold a valid british passport, which is machine readable (has lots of '<' characters at the bottom of the photograph page) and you don't have a criminal record, and you're just going for a holiday then no - you don't need a visa. You will be admitted under the visa-waiver program. Just make sure that you can prove that you have paid for a return flight, and that you have adequate funds to pay for your stay.
