Fly to the USA (west coast) from where? China? Timbuktu? The East Coast?

I assume you mean the UK but it will be helpful if you can clarify this just in case!

I don't think there's a huge difference through the year. California isn't a particularly 'seasonal' place to go. Cheap prices may be offered if an airline finds it has seats to fill, though; so check out prices in the new year, when many of them do have sales.
