For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I agree with fredpuli47, 'deal' is a term used in the timber trade and can be wood from one of many of the 'soft wood' trees ie pine, spruce, larch or fir commonly used in internal joinery. I've seen some pine furniture labled "Scandinavian redwood" which is actually Scots pine from Scandinavia, but of course it would'nt be known as Scots pine there.
What you have to remember is, is that terms used for timber in the timber trade (espeially the soft woods) dont always relate to the tree it came from.
