Is this another Emperor's New Clothes, like Little Britain?
What may have appeared to be initially amusing characters and situations have no comedic 'legs' what ever. There is simply no depth to the characterisations, and the scripts are weak and lazy - a lethal combination.
It's not quite as bad as the 'Miss Jocelyn' debacle where an entire series was screwed out of the outmoded outdated inversely racist proposition that all fat black women are loud and offensive - but it's getting there.
