Lump on dogs leg

Hello,
I've found a lump, the size of a ten pence piece on my dogs back leg. When I touch it it moves around alittle. My dog it getting old, does anyone think it could be C?

I will be taking her to the vets tomorrow.

It could be a fatty cyst. Dogs get these - my old dog had one on her back leg - and it was harmless. You should get it checked out though

Don't worry too much. Old dogs often get lumps. The Vet should be able to shift it OK.

Hello there , first of all , don't panic and try to think positive honey. I know how you feel because I found a lump on the leg of my 5 yr old labrador . I took her to the vet and she is going to have it removed after christmas . The vet said it could be harmless but she won't know for sure until she opens her and sends the lump for histology . Chin up and go and brave it and make the appointment as it's best if it is looked at . Let us know how you get on please :-) xx

Hi muchlove, I am not sure about the 'C', Jack's my first dog, and no lumps yet, so I haven't a lot of experience to share. But I know older dogs can often get harmless lumps and bumps, like bensmum says, a cyst, or a blockage, or just a wee growth.

Don't want to worry you ...my dog had a lump on his back leg,he was 2 at the time, turned out to be cancerous,had to have a lot of muscle removed on his leg and spent a week at Cambridge Vets Hozzy, 2 1/2 grand lighter on the insurance. He's fine now ,walks with a limp . I do a lump and bump check weekly on both of mine, the breed i have is prone to lumps etc but it's best to check them out :o)

Hi, I have a Boxer and they are prone to Marcell Tumours, she has had 5 over the past 3 years these are cancerous, she is still full of beans at the good age of 7yrs 8 months. Like you I was panicking and when the Vet said the big C I thought I was going to loose her but she is still with us, so please don't worry

Try not to worry too much muchlove I have two oldies and my little girl has had a couple of lumps but after investigations by the vets , everything was ok they get these sort of things when they are older and its not all bad news.Try and think positive love it might not be the dreaded C.Good luck and plenty of pats for your baby.g

Muchlovex...... I have had an older cat with this problem. I too thought the worst. but it turned out to be a harmless fatty cyst. very common in older animals. it is much more likely to be something harmless than anything sinister. Please let us know how you get on at the vets. Good luck!
