Its Official,
England is now the most crowded country in Europe.
My question is,
Why were border controls abolished in the first place?.
I have my own thoughts on this, but i'd like to read what other ABers have to say first.

And yes, it's remarkable that so many people can see migrants in terms only of problems rather than of opportunities. Somehow the British seem to have no entrepreneurial spirit at all these days and no sense (as their forefathers had when building an empire) that they are equal to anything the world can throw at them. A shame to see Brits so permanently defensive and disgruntled, really. It's the foreigners who are prepared to follow their dreams; the Brits just sit at home and whinge.

The evidence is in the Daily Mail link you posted. It says, �The most crowded country in Europe, according to the statistics, is Malta.�
It lists the top twelve most densely populated European countries and shows Malta�s density as 1,274 per square kilometre compared to England�s 387 per square kilometre.
