PC running too slow

Please help, my PC is running slower than ever, I am using Windows XP Pro (SP1), Cable Broadband 256kbs,950mhz CPU & 256mb RAM. The task manager & control panel say my speed is only 12kps, Google links take up to 8 minutes to load!!! I am using AVG free anti-virus, spyware blaster, spy bot search & destroy & kerio(& XP) firewalls(& all latest updates). I have ran all virus/spyware tests & disk degragmenter (all ok).Thanks in advance for any help.

Is it just your internet speed that is that slow or your actual PC (internal programs)?

 

You could try running the defragmenter about 3 or 4 times to help boost your PC performance.  Running it that many times is suppose to help with hard disk speed/performance.

If its just the internet that's running slow you should contact your ISP helpline.

I have ran disk defragmenter 5 times & the computer is still much slower than it used to be.  The task manager says 46 processes are running but I don't know which programs to stop.  The networking tab in task manager says link speed is only 12kps.
