My church wedding ceremony cost nothing except a small contribution in the old dish (so until I read these replies, I've always thought a church wedding was free), although on the eve of my wedding, the vicar told me he would only marry us if I was good to my future mother-in-law and treated her with respect. Where the heck did that come from? If it wasn't so close to the day (and the fact that he just totally threw me), I would have told him to stuff it up his **** but I guess that's why he left it so long. And the fact that he didn't charge us says a lot too, doesn't it? Favour for the old mother-in-law. Anyway, I was good to her. She didn't give me any reason to get upset with her so we got along just fine.
I do also know (since I was married) that the same vicar refused to baptise one couple's child because they weren't married, yet he was more than happy to baptise our son even though we weren't married at the time.
Why would you even want to get married in such a corrupt place?

my best friend is getting married in a church near by were we live, it's 423 just for the ceremony, with all the extra inc bells ringing, choir, flowers, being able to photograph and video, etc, it's around 650, and i believe this is quite cheap compared to some other places, although i have heard that some churches accept donations and dont charge a set price!
