I have an aluminium tax disc holder which has fallen off my window. This is due to the sticky pads running out of stickyness. My tax disc now is on the dash board... Does this count as displaying it? I know a copper wouldnt't see it if either of our veichles were moving past each other and for them would be wasting their time pulling me over. Also does anybody know where i can get some more pads from. They are like the stuff used to stick new credit cards to the paper they come on.
P.s already tried geting a hand full of Mobile phone Top-up leflets from behind the tesco counter but you cant get the sticky off the paper. Craft shop maybe?
Whilst it is an offence not to display your tax disc in an appropriate part of your windscreen I'm afraid you are heading for a fine. Don't take the chance. I'm sure somewhere like Halfords would sell what you are looking for. If not, Hobbycraft. Failing that, buy a new tax disc holder, prompto. Watch out, watch out. There's a plod about.
Plod knows if you are taxed by the number plate now, they won't even bother looking. The rules are that is should be displayed in the windscreen and yours is so don't worry about it.
Loosehead - they do bother looking and FPNs are still issued for this offence.
The thinking behind it is to stop tax discs being displayed in other non-taxed cars.
Yes, I know these vehicles will be picked up by NPR systems, but it displaying a tax disc that is in date stops traffic wardens and other officials looking too closely.
