Change IE7 back to IE6

Is it possible to do this? My computer is freezing all the time and generally behaving erratically, so I feel it's definitely worth a try. The problem is do I have to uninstall all the IE7 updates -and could someone let me know where I can get the whole installation as microsoft doesn't appear to allow this? Thank you.

Yep, just uninstall IE7 using control panel add/ remove, and IE6 will be restored in its place.

You're saying there's no need to download IE6, as it will automatically take the place of IE7 when I uninstall?

Yes - webdude is right.

I had dreadful problems with IE7 when I first installed it - so uninstalled it.

It's been okay on the second install - I did exactly as the instructions said, which included disabling the firewall for the actual install bit.

If you want all the features of IE7 without these problems, then give Firefox a whirl, it's free.

I've been using Firefox for over a year fo3nix, but not that impressed as it still freezes in exactly the same way as IE

Well the problem obviously is not your browser.

You need to be looking elsewhere for the cause.

What OS? How much RAM have you got?

How many processes are running at once?

What is the CPU useage like?

Right Ethel, here you are:

XP 2, about 25 programs in the background. All microsoft and Panda Internet Security.

RAM is 1.00GB and CPU varies from 8% to 44%.
