So a book about 3 little pigs has been rejected from being given an award because "it may offend Muslims" (where have we heard that before)

What next, Tesco refuse to sell Bacon or Pork Pies because it may offend Muslims.
Miss Piggy banned from the Muppets because it may offend Muslims.
I am getting sick of this.
This is England, we eat pigs, to us a pig is like any other animal. Get over it.

But where we have been grouped together, has elluded me. If being mentioned in the same sentance is classed as grouping then your immaturity goes further than I thought. But that is a seperate issue.
However, I do actually agree with the Raggy one on his point about being a white Jamacian.
Two linked examples I will mention are the whole black identity issue with Rap music. I do believe that white rappers have had death threats from the black boys and when Dr Dre worked with Eminem he too was subjected to some serious black style punishment.
And David Hemp, the white cricketer for Bemuda not only looks out of place but has had his life threatened by black Bemudans. Ironic insofar as it is near enough British soil!!!!
So be honest SP. can a white man be a West Indian?
And on a related note what is your opinions on wiggas?

The point is that you are the nationality of your passport. A British born Muslim, black or anything else, then you'e as British as me. You might have a different culture historically, but you are British just like me.
Saying that 'muslims and all the other cultures' should do things the British way is confusing if they are British. Of course what you might mean, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that you think every person born to this country should follow a code and culture that is historically 'English'.
I'm in trouble, because I'm not Christian, and don't especially live the English lifestyle. I share a lot of cultural values of course, along with many Muslims, but where am I supposed to go if I'm not English enough for you?

Re: 'wigga'.
A horrible, nasty little word which thankfully has fallen out of use, seeing as there is very little difference between young 'urban' black men and young 'urban' white men.
They dress the same, speak with the same accent and listen to the same music.
Pretty much now, in parts of London, all kids look like So Solid Crew:

Therefore, the sobriquet 'wigga' now has little relevance.

I'm not quite sure which side of the argument Doc Spock is meant to be on.
He thinks he is a British Subject - a term which has had no legal meaning for over 25 years.
Such a person was subject to the British Crown and this would include all peoples within The Empire (when it existed) and The Commonwealth but exclusive of Protectorates.
So is he affording himself equal status with Jamaicans et al out of solidarity or ignorance?

sp1814: Errr....gina32 - you referred to Muslims in your post. You singled them out before referring to 'other cultures'.
But you didn't answer my question.
What do you mean by 'our country?
I'm going to answer. 'Our' country. England. So for English people. The colour of skin doesn't bother me at all, so don't bring race into it. Religion does however. I feel anyone can practice any religion they want in this country, so long as it doesn't undermime the essence of our country, England. I get angry when typically English traditions, such as Christmas Lights, or School Uniforms, get taken to such riduculous lengths, to make sure someone of a different religion to traditional English religions, takes offence. If, for example, a muslim comes over to our beautiful country, or is even born here, and they don't like the English way of life, then get the hell out of this wonderful country. Same as if I, an English person, went to live in Bangladesh and didn't agree or approve of their customs, then I would leave their country, I certainly wouldn't kick up a pathetic, ridiculous, attention-seeking fuss about something as stupid as them covering their arms and legs, I'd simply obey their belief or leave.
That is what is annoying. Fair enough English born Muslims living here and getting on, but English born or foreign born Muslims coming to our country, England, and whinging about our beliefs...I'd just kick them out or make them leave. What on Earth gives them, the right, to impose their religious beliefs on our Country. We're not traditionally a muslim country, yet we have the decency of respecting their faith, but I don't think we should change US and our beliefs to accompany them. If we went to their country we'd respect their culture and faith, it's long overdue for them to respect ours. It's only manners.
