I have a situation where i need to be able to print my emails from my office computer (Vista) to my printer at home.
Both computers and the printer i wish to use are on a network, both of which are being run by SBS2003 and Microsoft exchange
The printer at home connects direct to the router, thus has an IP address of its own
I think i am correct by believing that i can connect to my printer at home by running the add printer wizard on the work PC and selecting the option to
"connect to a printer on the internet or on a home or office network"
I need to enter a URL for the printer which i want to connect to, this is what i don't know - how do i find this infomation and what should the URL string look like???
The reason i ask this question is that i log on to my Computer at work by a virtual desktop when at home, so i am unable to print my emails "locally" as "locally" is in my office!!!!!
That is the way that we are working at the moment, although as i know it can be done i would like it to have it working that way - i can't stand having muliple emails, i find one email account hard enough to keep sorted!!!!!lol
Don't know which software you are using at the moment, but assuming that your office machine is running XP Pro, then you could use the MS RDP client to connect to it. In which case, you could then configure it to make your local printing resources available to your office session. You would need to ensure that the correct printer driver was installed at the office before connecting.
