I have been taking tablets called multi-vitamin with iron on and off for a few years. Recently I was told I should stop taking iron so I decided to just take vitamins instead of vitamins with iron. I was in a chemist one day and picked up a packet of multi-vitamins and a different pack called multi-vitamins with iron. However, I noticed that on both packages the iron level said 14mg per whatever, I can't remember the whatever bit but it was the same for both. So what is the point of one packet specifying iron, when it had no more or less than the other?

Probably so they can sneakily charge you more for the one with 'iron'. Because iron is a mineral it's worth checking the packaging (as you have done!) to make sure there is none in what appears to be just a multi-vitamin and mineral.

Bit like the prices charged for mineral water when tap water is just as good - customers will often pay more when they think they are getting something 'extra' even when it comes as standard with other products.
