outlook express

Hi, I have just hooked my vista up again but everytime i go to my outlook express it comes up with this message,

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F.
I think it is cause i not used computer since before xmas,
Can anyone help me get my emails back through outlook please as it is driving me mad!!!

I get exactly the same message except I'm with bt rather than Tiscali. I phoned the helpline and did what they told me to do but I still can't get my emails, although I can send them. I now just click on the mailbox on by bt home page and get them that way.

Blimey, I have just gone back on mine and altered the settings again and 612 emails are coming through !!!!!
Click on tools, accounts, properties, servers and then type in : mail.tiscali.co.uk in incoming and outgoing mail.
Click apply and ok
See if that works

Just tried that and it comin up wi different message saying incorrect, I changed it back again but still no luck,
I might have a go at the settings again and c what happens....

I wonder why these settings didn't work before when I tried it. Probably won't work again tomorrow !

looby if all else fails you can just go on tiscali homepage and access your email that way. Its probaly better that way cos most of the spam doesnt show (cheeky sods still let it through to outlook though)

Do u know im sure this problem has happened to me before and i sussed it but for some reason my brain has gone dead and i am pressing buttons and all sorts in the hope that something works!! oh well, i will have to keep goin to tiscali home page to get mails.. either that or do u think if i delete my email i can set it up again in same name etc?? i dont wanna delete it then ****** it up and have no email.. that just wouldnt do ;0)

did you look at the link mattie gave you looby? I had problems ages ago and sorted it out with the help page mattie put up. Theres a bit saying outlook settings,click on that and if you put all the settings in (go to tools etc like jillius said) that may work.

cheers pixi, ye thats what i have been doin, I think im gonna have to just leave it and go through homepage cause my patience is now at zero! doh ;0(
i can see me pressing the wrong button and deleting the whole bloody thing.... then it will be back to pen n paper!

hi pixi, ye ive just done that and looked right through it and everything is as it should be on there, i have tried to delete and re write everything but still no luck...
do u think if i delete my email i could set another one up in exactly the same name etc so i dont have to let all my contacts know i have got new email??

Hi its me again, I looked at link and tampered with it a bit and now when i log onto outlook it has this message??

Its different to the original message and now im even more confused??!!

You could do a system restore. If it was ok last week, go on and restore it to about 8 days ago.
