I was told paninni is toasted ciabatta, i dont think it is. If i am right can you tell me how it is different.

Pannini is like a rectangular roll and ciabatta is a small loaf with a sponge-like inside.
paninni just means little bread or little loaf ( cant remember which lol ) and are made mostly with either ciabatta or foccacia bread , just personal preference which you use i think :-)
Lorri got me thinking - and panini can be made from a ciabatta loaf. I'm used to the ones I buy in Sainsbury's!
Pane means bread in italian, pannino is a small bread roll, pannini is the plural of pannino. So pannini are just small rolls of any sort. If a ciabatta is made in small bread roll size then they might be called pannini
