Anyone ever filled in divorce papers themselves?

Im currently seperated from my partner and looking to apply for a divorce in the next few weeks. We have children together and the mortgage on the house has been paid off for years.

Most of the divorce paper I have been able to complete but Im getting a little confused to the PRAYER part of the form. It talks about "ancillary relief" .... "order for maintenance ....", lump sum order" .... "property adjustment order" .... etc.

Does anyone know what this is about - not sure if its to do with splitting the value of the house when the children are of age.

I have tried to call the courts for assistance but they have told me the guidelines that came with the forms should be enough and if I didnt understand then I would need to contact a solicitor - as you know these can be expensive.

Any help would be grately appreciated

Thanks xx

Hi

Thanks for your reply ..... does he have children with his ex and is she still living in it. Its actually my partner that is applying for the divorce (sorry to write as him) but I dont want him to fill (or not fill) this part out wrong incase he loses anything to do with the house when the kids become of age. They have an agreement between them anyway but you just never know what or who could turn nasty xx
hi yes they have 1 child and had a brought house together. we were advised to leave it but please dont take my word for it

Ive just telephoned the courts and they said the same - to leave it rather than cross it out. Its all very complicated isnt it. Funny to say but nice to know someone is out there in my situation .... its so frustrating sometimes. We have just moved house and have our own baby together - just feels weird with him still being married but we have had to spend money on more important things.

Thanks so much for your time and replies x
