Did you hear the one about the coppers that were sacked/disciplined for being 'absent' from duty , doing other things .

They even filmed themselves enjoying a ride on a water flume talk about stupidity .
Perhaps it's a good thing that some were sacked .
Do we want coppers with this level of intellect , out there on the streets .
Can you picture them ( with the Charlie Chaplin walk you know foot pointing outwards ) pursuing a criminal shouting ' hey I wanna a word with you '

Was it right to sack some of these officers ?

On a more general note do you think that police officers should , while on duty , pop into tescos to pick up a few things or stop off at starbucks for a coffee - or should these things be done in their own time .

You often see in the USA police officers on duty ,sitting down in diners

I see no problem with police officers on the beat buying food and drink. what is the alternative? travel back to the station, that could take them miles off their beat. Eating wherever is convenient keeps them within distance of the street at least.

People who complain about this are pale and have annoying whiny voices.

Just to clarify - what I mean is police officers attending to personal matters while on duty - as opposed to popping into a shop to buy something for lunch
