Weare in rented accomodation while my husband's job transfer is going through and we move to another area. The letting agent wants a copy of our contents insurance. We certainly have insurance cover but it puzzles me why they need a copy. It's our belongings, not the landlady's, if everything got ruined or stolen it would be down to us to replace, insured or not. The building and her carpets and curtains are I assume, insured by her?
As far as I am aware, anything other than 'reasonable wear and tear' would be your responsibility. It should say in your lease what they expect re repair/ restoration of carpets, curtains etc. Check that first before giving the letting agent a copy of your insurance. Daffi x
