Windows XP error message

Each time I use my PC, I get the error message 'Win86.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.'  I then click the OK button and continue to use my computer, which appears to be working normally.  Can anyone shed any light on what this message is about?  I am running Windows XP Home Edition.

From what I could find it appears to be some sort of spyware or Trojan.  Here's a couple of links that might help:
