mirror repair

After trying to clean paint from a large mirror I have badly scratched the surface in several areas. (something I definitely wont do again) Can anyone please tell me if there is a paint or spray of any type available, which would enable me to repair the mirror surface or is it a case of having to buy a new mirror.

I think there is something jewellers use for scratches on glass, its called 'jewellers rouge' or something, try googling it and see where you can buy it

As WeeAl says, try jeweller's rouge or even a little toothpaste.
