I use Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub and Simple Deep Cleansing Facial Mask (once a week on problem areas) to keep blackheads at bay. My mantra is always 'less is more' - don't do too much to your face as it usually makes problems worse. Only cleanse or use a scrub once a day, wash with water the other time. Definitely don't cover-up with foundation everyday (only for special occasions). If you are quite pale the moisturisers that have the tanning stuff in them make you look/feel better. I normally use nivea or E45 on my face and I don't think I look too bad for nearly 40! A professional facial is always good for a deep down cleanse - perhaps your Mum would pay for your birthday or end of exam treat!
I think it's probably because of your age and the balance of your hormones. I was similar in my teens and my uneven skintone improved with age.
You should probably ensure you have a good skincare regime. Dermalogica have a good range of products for problem skin, however, they are quite expensive, but do last long. You can purchase them at certain beauty salons. They reccommend you have a "skin mapping" consultation, so they can select the correct products for your skin type.
Apart from that, a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water, as you already do, should help.

Ive suffered with an uneven complexion for my whole life. I have loads of open pores and all i do is cover up with foundation in the day and at night make sure i take all my makeup off with a wipe and wash with soap and water. Try using a face mask 3 times a week and facial scrub that works for me leaves your skin so soft xx
i am 21 now but always had uneven skin tone when i was your age so i started to use natural products....i made a face scrub out of natural yoghurt and flax seeds but u could use your usual face cleanser and add ground poopy seeds. then i used whitch hazel ointment as my toner which is very good for tightening pores and uneven skin tone. then i used avocado for a moisturiser leave for 1 minute to let dry then wash off with water. i know it seems alot but stick to a routine-cleanse,tone and moisturise and u should see results!!
