Hi it is possible to be pregant and have a full period this is quite rare, you can also be pregnant and have a lighter period this is just a small amount of blood and tissue that you sometimes loose when the egg attaches too the inside of the womb!! the best thing to do is go to the docs and get checked out.

Good luck hope it works out x x

if your pregnancy test came back negative while you're on a period.... you're not pregnant.

To reassure yourself, do another test in 7 days... but you're not pregnant. The home kits are just as sensitive/accurate as a test at the drs. (We use 'clearblue' too!)

Perhaps you did get pregnant but the egg didn't properly implant and you get a period but it feels different to normal. Apparently that happens quite often and you don't usually know that the egg was even fertilised. That's called a chemical pregnancy and it can mean that if you test with an early home pregnancy kit just before your period is due you get a positive but then your period comes anyway.
************* - I'm curious.  are you a doctor or a social worker?
thanks ABeditor.  That should have read sp*nkypumpkin, are you a doctor or a social worker?

Yes it is possible to be pregnant and still have periods - my sister in law had periods until she was 6 months pregnant.

If you took a test while on your period then it may not have shown because you would only have been a week or two pregnant, leave it for a couple of weeks and try again.  I took a pregnancy test two days after my period was due and it showed positive so they do show after four weeks but maybe not after one or two weeks.

Good luck and be happy! xx

I agree with what wonky says but if you carn't afford a pregancy test (because they are quite expensive) or just want some advice, phone your local Family Planning Clinic.  They are really nice people and give you a pregancy test and all the advice for free! Have a look in your local telephone directory.

Good luck x
