MM and KM Links March 2008 [Week 5]
59 Answers
Good Evening AB Linkers, everywhere!
Welcome to this fifth and final week in the reign of Lady Alex, who is about to set the seal on a most entertaining month of MM Links. After her initial panic of winning at her first attempt, she reports that she has thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in the driving seat. Whoever takes the title for March, remember that there is as much (or as little) support as is needed for the new champion to meet the task of setting the April Links. You will not be simply "thrown to the lions"!
Talking of the lions, how is the Shrubbery Squad tonight? Well, I hope, and in good spirit ~ or should it be the other way round? The "good spirit" will soon be inside the Shrubbery Squad!
This will also be the last week for the sister game KM Links, where entrants try to outwit Kate Mepham of DT fame by predicting the Monday Links to Saturday's four chosen words.
If you wish to chance your arm at both games, look out for the starting times tomorrow on AnswerBank. That's about 06.30am for KM Links and exactly 09.00am for MM Links. Newcomers are always welcome. Usually over 50 ABers take part in the games, and no-one takes it seriously! [If you believe that you'll believe anything]
Me? I am crofter!
Keeper of the scores. I'm the only one with an abacus!
See you all tomorrow for the final stages of a well-fought contest.

"Where has Strix gone???"
Strix is not quite as dissolute as he likes to pretend? I had been cooking supper, after that earlier posting, for my wife and our two sub-twenty-year old children. In fact I can hear the young ones in the next door room chatting and watching some rubbish programme on the box before I go and kick them, almost immediately, upstairs to bed. Bit difficult with the daughter as she is nearly 19 and over 6 foot tall and about to go the University of her choice as she has 3 to choose from and is, therefore, somewhat cleverer than her parents.
Now where's that bottle?

Pauline, beware!
A friend of mine has pointed out to me, who has two sons, and three step-children, all University age or just over, is that, having one's child at a University close to home with a nice mummy, such as I am sure you are, who is a good cook is that you will land up with not just your daughter but with twenty of her mates (and their washing!) to enjoy not just for your company but also your cooking and washing machine at least once every three weeks!!
