MM Links Solutions March 2008 [Week 5]

This fifth and final week in the reign of Lady Alex was brutal, as you will see when I reveal the pre-selected link words were:

March PANE
Lion RAMPANT
Spring TIDE(S)
PASCHAL Lamb

Ouch! Lady Alex plays hard ball and leaves March as a LION not as a LAMB!

Scoring was thin on the ground, the Shrubbery Squad were fooled, but a worthy winner has emerged!

Well, the first 14 entrants failed to pick up a single point. It fell to lysander to draw first blood with PASCHAL LAMB at 09.06 closely followed by LaneyB with an inspired LION RAMPANT, both picking up TWO POINTS. There was no need to invoke the two-minute rule this week, so these stood alone as the early leaders.

However, there came a flurry of activity after two dozen or so entrants, before Eiggam came floating in on SPRING TIDES to claim the third link. Chiefpanda did well to spot two of the early hits, but the �Star of the Week� must be Entrant #34, ChrisHewat who spotted the elusive MARCHPANE and was able to pair it off with PASCHAL LAMB to earn THREE POINTS!
Excellent linking of two devious words!


How did the field shape up this week?
Well, most of last week�s leaders were again subdued ~ with one exception! Joint leader last week, lysander forged ahead with two more points to reach the dizzy heights with 11 points for a monthly total.

With no points scored at all this week it's good to see that I'm still in the leader pack as it were along with some good company. (It look as if I'll be the perennial bridesmaid --- but I don't possess 27 dresses ! (a la the new film ). Thanks ladyalex for a good month and to crofter for his scoring.

Nil for both of us this week - Oh dear Lady Alex you certainly fooled us this month - I don't think either of us scored very many.

I just hope Lysander isn't, after the Lady Alex, also a Scot. Bad enough being named after a Spartan, but the outside chance Lysander is a Scot AND also a member of the Wee wee wee free has me quaking in my Episcopalian boots!!!!!!

If, unlikely, Lysander is as above and also female I shall request a reprint on this site of John Knox excellent tome: "The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women"

I sincerely hope you won't try to emulate ladyalex and begin by lulling us into a false sense of security at the start of the month escalating to impossible heights at the end.

No disrespect ladyalex, it all adds to the fun and excitement by being unpredictable, but it does nothing at all for my scores - and at the end of the month, that is what counts. :-(

Oh crikey, this is a bl**dy conspiracy.

Lysander, as to passing anything on to the runner up, I think you will find that crofter will "sort" you out!!!!

Now, we have another Scottish female from the east coast of Caledonia but who is now residing in Northumbria.

Why my paranoia about a conspiracy? A) Lady Alex ( all sweetness and light to start of with but finished with a devilish flourish) was/is from the same part of the world B) My daughter is about to go to St Andrews C) I went to Newcastle University D) my wife's grandfather commanded a Lysander squadron in the second world war.

Oh heck, no chance in April.........

No, gen2, it was not me in the same position - I was just a possible substitute, crofter applied the necessary sweeteners and thumbscrew...the rest is history and the true winner was a brilliant MM setter of links... but goddam I was hopeless on the links!!!!
