Zone alarm is asking should I allow Delivery Manager Service on 212 58 250 5 HTTP, if I 'allow this once' I then get a message aking me to allow Delivery Manager Service to be a server on Port 1947.
I am scared to allow and let some horror loose on my computer.

Googling seems to make me think this is something to do with iplayer.

Any advice please?

it's normally a bit of software called kservice by Kontiki that the bbc iplayer, channel 4 OD and most other online catch up tv services install

there is a huge thread about it here

If you want to use these catch up tv services then you will need to allow it, I have allowed it on my system but stop the service whenever I'm not actually using it

Thanks for the info..
I've had a look at the link you sent. Loads of info there but a bit confusing for a novice like me.

I wonder whether the simplest thing would be to deny access each time the request appears unless I want to download from iplayer on that occasion and then reboot denying access.

Would I be able to view my download without allowing access?

you can view anything you have already downloaded but without that service having access you will not be able to download anything. easy way to deal with it

Start -> Run and type “cmd”.
Then type
“sc stop kservice”

Which will stop the service

To start it again do
Start -> Run and type “cmd”.
“sc start kservice”

Oh and hope you have unlimited downloads on your broadband account, check you terms and conditions with your ISP, If you have a cap on how much data you can download a month using those catchup tv things will soon take you over that!

Hi I'm a bit uncertain how to do this.

I followed advice through the link you sent me without the 'cmd' and any abbreviation marks,

When I tried cmd sc stop service , with or without abb marks I get a black screen with blue heading;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe

on black screen;
Microsoft Windows XP
C:\Documents and settings\Owner

followed by a blinking cursor

Should I be entering

sc stop kservice

after the cursor???

Thanks for your help

actually I over complicated things a bit, from start menu select run and in run box type

sc stop kservice

and hit enter, a black window should popup and then go way after a few seconds, this has stopped the kservice, to start it again when you want to download stuff do the same but type in

sc start kservice

you will also have to allow it access to internet through your firewall to download

Thanks for this advice, don't seem to get the black window but otherwise this clarifies things greatly.

I only download the odd programme so hopefully will not exceed my download limit.
