Anyone been to Turkey?
Can anyone help with a dilemma?
We've got a weeks holiday to Side in Turkey booked but my partner now cannot come due to work commitments so its just myself, my 15yr old daughter, 10yr old son and 2yr old daughter.
The problem is i've read so many horror stories about Shop keepers, food etc that its put me right off of going alone with 3 children, not helped by buying a tourist book that even says things like not being allowed to blow your nose in public or cuddling someone!!!
Has anyone been who can help me decide what to do?
Is it really a place for a mum and 3 children who have never ever travelled alone before?

I've been to Turkey, though not Side, and have found the people to be some of the kindliest and friendliest on earth. Do try to dress reasonably modestly - bikinis should be fine on the beach but perhaps not in the street. And public snogging is thought impolite. Turks are mostly Muslim, but they're well used to tourists and are not like the more extreme regimes in Arab countries. I can't imagine you having any nose-blowing problems. You should have a wonderful time.
I went to Turkey last year with my son who was one then after my divorce and it was fantastic ! I normally go to Spain but will chose Turkey everytime. I got hassled a bit off the men as they go for pretty young women easp if they are single lol but apart from that we loved it they were great with Zak in the hotel it was clean food great I really couldn't fault it
It was Marmaris where we were
The clothes are so cheap and you need to haggle but the weather fantastic

I've been about 8 or 9 times to Turkey and never had any problems whether or not I was with my husband. I would agree with all of the above. Side is very much a holiday resort and geared up for children although some lovely Roman ruins. It's worth a visit to Manavgat where there are nice waterfalls, the beach is lovely and the children will like the camels. All in all you should have a great time.
