What is your favourite cover version, or possibly which do you think is the most popular cover ever?
I would go for "with a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker for best ever.
Poss "Harvest for the world" by the Christians or even "Baby i love your way" by Big Mountain.
All v good tunes but wonderful covers.

Love Willie Nelson doing, always on my mind and Tina Turners version of Help. agree with you about Joe Cocker, great version. most covers are crap.
I love "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I do love the Nine Inch Nails version but I think Johnny just has it. Also Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" is brilliant.
I forgot to Say Willie Nelson's "Always on my Mind"!
Day In The Life by Jeff Beck on George Martin's album. Let Em In by Billy Paul.

Willie N, definitely.
I choke as i say it but how's about Rolf doing Stairway to heaven???????
My vote would have to go with, either Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah", which is just breathtaking; or Aretha Franklin's version of "Respect", which was originally by Otis Redding (i think?!?).
Me and Bobby Mc Gee from Janice Joplin
Actually, yeah.... i take back the above, i'm with Bohne... DEFINITELY "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin.
Fantastic!
topogigo, I have that version and it's brilliant, also by the Aussie Doors

The fall Lost in Music
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
say hello wave goodbye - david gray
David Bowie's "Sorrow" from his covers album Pin Ups.

The Beach Boys version of "I can Hear Music", simple brilliant.

Amy Winehouses Valerie with Mark Ronson was better than the original aswell methinks.
Sinead O'Connor's version of Nothing Compares 2 U.
and dare I say Marilyn Manson's version of "Sweet Dreams" ?
Faith no More's version of War Pigs is amazing!!!!!

I am sorry did someone mention Amy Crackhouse? now i am worried.
I am sorry also tds78, not wishing to argue, but David Grays version of Say hello and wave goodbye was a ritual slaughter, the end was just awful as with a lot of his things, i hate that man i wish his head would drop off as he wobbles it. But that is just my opinion.
Two of my favourites are Your Song by Ewan McGregor(from Moulin Rouge) and Born To Run by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
