i have type 2 diabetes and use insulin to control it but over the last 6 months or so have been getting pain in the form of a dull ache in my left thigh down to my knee this is when i am sitting down or driving it eases of when i get up and walk around for a bit could this be due to the diabetes medication i am takiing ie, the insulin and metformin if anyone as the same syptoms please let me know thank you in anticipation
It sounds much more like you have a problem with your back and driving posture, especially as it eases when you get up and walk around. This is quite common. Try adjusting your car seat and being more aware of your posture and see if it helps.
I have the same problem caused by arthritis in my back and other joints.
i was taking statins doctor stopped them could this be neuropathy looked on health web site after posting and think it could be this but still appreciate personal input thanks
Well yes the pain down your leg could be from nerves being trapped etc. This is why I suggested that you check out your posture whilst driving and try to adjust it. It could really help.
Sometimes difficult to locate the exact reason sphinxy. I know driving causes me problems. I am arthritic and have associated nerve pains. They often go hand in hand. It is a very common problem though, so try not to worry too much. I would mention it to your GP, or a visit to an osteopath might help.
In my opinion Lofty is right. Most likely problem is slight pressure on a nerve, possibly sciatic. This can cause referred pain in all parts of the leg.
i must point out i do not suffer any other back pain and i am quite active and have quite a physical job lifting etc i only get the dull ache when sitting for prolonged time ie driving to work 30 mins or my sitting asa passenger for 30 mins its sitting when it comes on
You don't have to suffer backache to have referred pain from your back down your leg sphinxy! Pain anywhere in your limbs can come from your problems with your spine and spinal cord. It is the centre of our being. Your latest posting makes me even more sure I am right.
thats what makes me think it is something to do with the medications i am and was on as opposed to either sciatic or arthritic conditons because as tonyted metions he had strong pain and after stopping the statins it reduced to a discomfort which is what i have not a serious pain problem
Well it seems that Statins can cause nerve damage such as sciatic problems so probably we are all correct here. I would talk to your GP to at least put your mind at rest.
I came across a website with a lot of helpful information is different nutritional products including stuff for joints and joint pain. Check out www.healthy-body-ingredients.com My mom suffered from aches and pains and tried some of the joint supplements and now it is like night and day with her and she feels great.
