I think the mututally agreed attitude between them is 'Don't call us ...'
I have to disagree. Let me make it clear I would never consider voting Conservative. I live in Scotland and they are the fourth party by far, the fifth in some places, and they have no credibility. However, given they have so few people as potential leaders, it would not surprise me if he came back. He is still pretty popular amongst his party, and is definitely young enough. It may not be in the next five years, but i think he's is an almost dead cert to run for the leadership again. The guy is ambitious and would love to be PM, so get down to the bookies and have a bet on him being Tory leader again. At least that way you'll have something to smle about when he gets back in.
Objectively he would be possibly a good leader and a good potential prime minister, but realistically it would not be politically possible for him to come back for a second time. It would just appear to be a mark of desperation in trying to find someone. The next Conservative Party leader will probably be someone like Oliver Letwin or David Davies or Thingy Cameron or Whatsisname or someone who isn't even famous yet.
