I had just moved away from Sutton Coldfield (Princess Alice Children's Home) the year before the fire at Sutton Park (if thats the one you're referring to).
I remember that one very well as we moved to Lancashire in the May and spent the summer trying to get our house and garden sorted. It was greener up there - we came back down south during July and everything was so brown!
I like Wells next the Sea too. Last time we went up there though we stayed at Winterton on Sea which is also lovely.
Is this summer really supposed to be hot? I had heard we was going to have a really warm spring and a cr@p summer like last year.
I dont remember tha summer of 76, wasnt born then lol but I do remember the summers always being hot ones as a kid. All the kids in the street would all disappear all day without a worry in the world.
hi daffy if you mean me yes that is the one i am referring to.you had to drive down the chester rd , monmouth drive ect with your head lights on in the day because of the smoke drifting across the roads.
i remember my nan would pack me lunch and we ( my cousin and i) would trundle off across the fields for a picnic, then we'd go and pick blackberries.
oh those were the days...not a care in the world.
Wasnt that the year of the ladybirds. Yuk ! I remember them crunching under your feet as you walked and I used to pull my jacket up around my ears for fear they would go down my neck. I hated them. They were just everywhere.
I was ...ummm 6. I remeber it, When life was good & you played out in the street in & out of other peoples house..that had doors wide open & no bony worried. We had water fights all the time,
The road was sooo hot the tarmac melted & you couldnt walk arround without shoes on.
Don't they always say it's going to be the hottest summer "this" year? Bit of sun and warmth would be nice, but if I'm baked, I'm a right mardy moo. :)
