Got a Philips X55 lap top and BT Broadband. Of late I have lost the ability to connect to the Internet on a wireless basis. When I go to the 'connect ' function it is not showing any wireless networks (this has never been the case before, it has always connected automatically on start up). I have made sure the wireless key is depressed but still cant pick up a network. Any thoughts, is this likely to be a BT issue or a Laptop issue (just needs to be re-synchronised for example) and if the latter how does it all of a sudden stop working. P.s. an ethernet cable to BT Home Hub / Router enables me to access Internet. Should I contact Tech Support or BT? Thanks in anticipation
Ethel - thanks for that but I am actually on Vista. Internet works properly with Ethernet cable which suggests that Broadbant to BT Home Hub / Router is fine. I am just now sure whether it is a synchronisation issue (and why this would have just fallen down) or maybe the wireless function on my laptop is no longer working. Real question is whether this is a BT or Tech Support issue? Thanks.
Ethel - thanks for further advice. Have checked and all network adapters are performing properly - the plot thickens. Please can you elaborate re your comments "Have you checked the bt hub admin pages (usually 192,168.01.1 in the address bar) to check that wireless hasnt' been turned off"? as I am not sure what this means and where to find it - if it has been turned off can I just turn it back on? Thanks.
Ethel - I haven't ever accessed the admin pages, dont know where they are or what to do, highly appreciative of your assistance but should I contact BT direct or Tech Support ?
